Simple text invoice vs full accounting software

A text invoice asks for payment. Accounting software explains the year. Most sole traders need the first one every day and the second one on a schedule.

Daily bill, periodic books

Full accounting software answers questions a text never will: what you spent on fuel, what you owe in tax, which account the money landed in. A text invoice answers the question the customer has this afternoon. Treating those as the same purchase is why people open a ledger to bill a dog walk and then do neither. Use the text invoice for the walk. Use accounting software when you are ready to keep the books, or hand the PDFs to someone who is. InvoiceTXT will not become that software if you wait. It stays a sending and recording tool for the invoice itself: draft, viewed, paid, acknowledged, PDF.

01

Invoice the job in the text

That is the daily action.

02

Reconcile on a cadence you can keep

Weekly or monthly, in a ledger or with an accountant.

03

Do not expect the SMS to categorise expenses

It does not see your bank.

04

Hand over PDFs, not login riddles

Your accountant needs the documents more than another portal.

What to put on this invoice

  • A per-job text invoice
  • A status when it is paid
  • A PDF
  • A separate decision about the books

Questions about this job

When is the full software worth it?

When you cannot answer “what did I keep last quarter?” from a folder of PDFs and a bank app.

When is it not?

When the only pain is unsent invoices and the books are already handled.

Can one product do both well on a phone?

Not this one, and usually not the ledger either. The phone is for the send.

Let the text invoice do the afternoon. Let the accounting software do the month. Do not make either do both.
