Name the rooms in the text

Painting totals get challenged room by room. The text should say “three rooms” and the invoice lines should match. Paint is separate from labour if the customer is paying for the tins. Woodwork, ceilings and a feature wall are extras only when they were not in the room price. If you took a deposit, this text is the balance and it should say so, with the deposit already left off the total.

Message you can send

Painting invoice for the three rooms we agreed. Labour, paint and the woodwork extra, due in 14 days: https://invoicetxt.com/i/your-link

01

Say the room count in the SMS

Three rooms is checkable. “Interior painting” is not.

02

Paint tins as their own line when they paid for them

If your quote included paint, do not add it again at the end.

03

Extras by name

Woodwork, a ceiling, a wardrobe. Each extra they approved on site.

04

Balance, not the original quote, if a deposit was paid

The text says “balance”. The invoice does not repeat the deposit as money still owed.

What to put on this invoice

  • Rooms or days, at the price you quoted
  • Paint, if it is extra
  • Named extras
  • Deposit called out if this is the balance

Questions about this job

What if I have not finished the last room?

Invoice the rooms that are finished, or wait until the job matches the quote. Do not bill three rooms and leave one half done without saying so.

Should the brand of paint be on the invoice?

Yes, as the description, if they chose it. The price is the line.

Can I text a landlord for a turnover?

Name the flat. A landlord with four units will not guess which invoice is which.

Room by room is boring and it is also why the invoice gets paid.
