Photographer invoice via text

Text the session, the editing and the travel as separate lines. A photography invoice that is one round number hides the work after the shoot.

Bill the shoot and the edit in one text

Clients remember the hour you spent with them and forget the evening of editing. Put the session fee, the editing hours and the travel on the invoice, then text the link when the gallery or the selects are ready, or on the day if you took a booking fee. If this invoice is the balance after a deposit, say “balance” in the text so they do not think you are billing the full fee twice.

Message you can send

Portrait invoice: session, editing and travel. Due in 7 days. Link and PDF: https://invoicetxt.com/i/your-link

01

Say whether this is the deposit, the balance or the full fee

That one word prevents the most common photography dispute.

02

Edit as hours or as a package

Either is fine. Do not list both for the same photos.

03

Travel if you charged it

A travel line that was never mentioned will be the line they refuse. Leave it off if it was included.

04

Send the link with the delivery, not a week later

The message that says the photos are ready can carry the invoice.

What to put on this invoice

  • Session or coverage fee
  • Editing, as hours or a package
  • Travel, only if it was agreed
  • Deposit or balance, named as such

Questions about this job

Should I wait until they approve the edits?

If the contract says payment on delivery, send the invoice with the delivery. Approval of selects is not a reason to have no bill.

Can I put the usage licence in the text?

A short phrase is enough. The licence detail belongs in the contract, not in the SMS.

What if they pay the deposit in cash on the day?

Invoice the remaining balance only, and say the deposit was received.
