What the invoice can carry

Branded text invoices for small businesses

Branding in a text is your name, said clearly, plus an invoice page that is not a screenshot. You do not need a custom SMS colour.

Put the brand in the first words

Small businesses overbuy branding when the real problem is an unnamed text from a private number. Start the message with the business name the customer heard on the phone. Keep that name on the invoice. A logo on a Pro plan is useful on the PDF. It will not rescue a message that says “hi invoice attached”. Colours in the SMS itself are not available and do not matter. Consistency matters: the same name on the van, the text and the PDF. If you trade under your own name, use that. A sudden limited-company name the customer has never heard looks like a different biller.

Message you can send

Brooks Painting — three rooms and the paint, due in 14 days: https://invoicetxt.com/i/your-link

01

Open with the business name

The lock screen should identify you before they tap.

02

Use one trading name

Do not swap between a nickname and a company in the same thread.

03

Let the page carry the layout

The SMS stays plain text. That is a feature. Plain text gets delivered.

04

Add a logo on the PDF when the plan includes it

The logo is for the file, not the bubble.

What to put on this invoice

  • The trading name in the first line
  • The same name on the invoice
  • A plain-text message that still gets delivered
  • A PDF that looks finished

Questions about this job

Do I need a short code?

No. The number they already have is more trusted than a short code they do not.

Can I brand the link preview?

The page title identifies the invoice. Do not depend on a preview image. Previews change by app.

What if I have two businesses?

Two names means two conversations. Do not send a plumbing bill from the cleaning name.

The brand is the name they recognise. Everything else is decoration until that is right.
