Awkward moments
Quick invoice for one-off jobs
A one-off customer will not join a portal. Send a short invoice by text with the work, the total and a link. Then you are done with the admin.
Do not build a system for a customer you will not see again
One-off jobs attract too much software. You do not need a project, a retainer or a client portal for a carpet clean you will never repeat. You do need a correct total and a way for them to open it. Three lines and a text are the whole system. Save them as a client only if they said they will book again. If they pay now, mark it paid and stop. The mistake is leaving one-off invoices in a pile because each one felt too small to “do properly”.
Keep the line short
Client, the main price, one extra, due on receipt.
Do not ask them to create an account
They will not, and you will not get paid for the lesson.
Send it in the booking thread
That thread is the whole relationship.
Close it when they pay
A one-off left open looks like a debt in your week.
What to put on this invoice
- The job they booked, named plainly
- Any extra they approved
- Due on receipt
- A link that does not ask them to sign up
Questions about this job
What if the one-off becomes a regular?
You already have the first invoice. The next one can reuse the shape. You did not need a setup project to get here.
Should I take a deposit for a one-off?
If you buy materials first, yes. Label the text as a deposit.
How do I find it later?
The link and the client name are the record. You do not need a folder per one-off customer.
Small jobs are where invoices go to die. A short text keeps them in the week you did them.

Some customers do not check email, or never gave you one. Text them the invoice link. You do not need an email address to create the bill.
