How to get paid faster with text invoices

Faster payment comes from a clear total, a due date of today when that was the deal, and a follow-up in the same thread.

Ask in a way that can be answered today

Text does not make a late payer generous. It removes the excuses that are actually about the format: they never saw the email, the PDF would not open, they did not know the total. Put the amount in the message. Use “due on receipt” when the agreement was to pay on the day. When the terms are 14 days, say the date, not “whenever”. If it is still open, reply in the same thread with one sentence and the same link. A new channel restarts the conversation.

Message you can send

Balance for the wedding coverage, editing and travel. The due date is on the invoice, 14 days from today: https://invoicetxt.com/i/your-link

01

Match the due date to the agreement

Same-day jobs should say due on receipt. A project with a contract should use the terms you already set, not a surprise.

02

Show the total before the link

The tap is a confirmation, not a discovery.

03

Follow up once, in the same place

“Still open, same link” is enough. Do not rewrite the invoice as a new story.

04

Record payment when it arrives

Chasing a paid invoice is how you lose the next job. Mark it paid so you know to stop.

What to put on this invoice

  • A due date that matches what you said on site
  • The total in the text, not only on the link
  • One follow-up, not a new invoice every two days
  • A status you update when the money lands

Questions about this job

Does a text invoice get paid the same day?

Often, when the customer has the money and the amount matches what you quoted. It will not collect a debt the customer has decided not to pay.

How soon should I remind them?

The day after the due date. Reminding before the due date sounds like you do not trust the date you set.

Should I add a late fee in the first reminder?

State it only if you warned them on the invoice or in the quote. A new fee in an angry text is an argument, not a system.

Speed is mostly clarity. The customer should not have to ask what the number is or where to look.
